CULTURAL INTERACTION


A session of cultural interaction was organised by the Association on November 1, 2016. Two students, Jake and William, from England, interacted with a group of students from the English department and exchanged views and ideas. Sri. Jayson Thomas, (Head of the Department) and Sri. Shibu P. V, (Asst. Professor, Dept. of English) also spoke on the occasion. Vishnu V, (II MA student) entertained the guests with a melody.

ONAM CELEBRATIONS


The English Association actively participated in the Onam celebrations held in the College on September 9, 2016. The Stall put up by the Association won the Third Prize in the Best Stall Competition organised by the Women's Cell in connection with the celebrations.

 Inauguration of English Association 2016- '17

       The activities of the English Association for the year 2016-17 was inaugurated on August 23, 2016. Mr. M. N. Prabhakaran,( Divisional Employment Officer, Professional and Executive Employment Office, Ernakulam,) delivered the Keynote address. Sri M. V. Paulachan, (Deputy Chief, University Employment Information Bureau, Agricultural University, Mannuthy) gave a resourceful talk on "Career Opportunities for English Students". Dr. Thampy Abraham ( Principal),  Capt. Jayson Thomas (HOD, English) and  Kum. Helna Varghese  (Secretary, English Association) also spoke on the occasion.

TES Quiz

The Quiz team of the Department represented the College in the Quiz Programme conducted by Ms. Kalyani Vallath, the director of Total English Solutions (TES) at Udyan Convention Centre, Chakkaraparambu on July 13, 2016. The students put up a good performance in the quiz and also won books worth Rs 1500 in the Literary Games that were organised as part of the programme.

Englit, the literary association of English Department released its Annual Manuscript Magazine GLOSSARIA,Creativity on Wings on 18-03-2013. Dr. Shaju, Dept. of Malayalam officially released the magazine. Capt.Prof. Jayson Thomas, Head of English Department presided the meeting.
RAINBOW, Creative Writers' Forum released their Manuscript Magazine INDIGO on 17-03-2016.Dr. A.U Arun , Dept. of Zoology released the Annual Magazine and delivered the key note address. Prof.Reeja Jose, teacher in charge of RAINBOW, presided the meeting.

ENGLISH FEST
The association of English department conducted English Fest on January 23rd. Interclass competitions were held on the best class room, notice board, an ensemble( group song, declamation or recitation and a surprise item) and skit. Second year degree students secured the first position for the best class room, notice board and skit.  Post graduate students bagged the overall championship trophy.
